The school will follow all APS school closures, as well as any closures deemed necessary by our
administration. We will NOT follow APS delayed starts. Local radio and TV stations regularly
broadcast school closure information starting at 6:00 A.M., usually repeating it periodically until
9:00 A.M. Most TV stations run a crawler on the bottom of the screen giving this information.

If school has been canceled, our telephone recording will state the information if possible. We
will also post it at our website. When school is closed, all school-sponsored activities are
canceled.
When the weather is a problem, but not bad enough to close school, we expect kids may trickle
in over the first part of the morning. Our learners come from all over the district, and travel
conditions may vary significantly from one neighborhood to another. Also, when the weather is
bad enough to delay or close schools, it may not mean that the places where our parents work
are closed, and many parents will need to drop off kids at or close to the regular time.
With these and other realities of a snowy day in mind, we do not do delayed starts. We want
to keep it simple. If it is bad enough to close school, we will do so. If not, we will be open and
expect kids to be here unless they have significant travel issues.
APS or Aurora Academy may schedule an early dismissal because of weather or other
emergencies. Our school will follow the APS Early Elementary Dismissal Schedule. These dismissals could be deemed necessary at any time. If an early dismissal is called, please
listen to the radio/tv stations listed above. Develop a procedure and discuss it with your
children so that they can be prepared and at ease if an early dismissal is required. When all
district schools are closed or dismissed early, all school-sponsored activities are canceled.
