Ms. Kennedy
Hello! I am Ms. Kennedy. This will be my 9th year teaching, but my first year at Aurora Academy. I previously taught both 4th and 5th grade in a charter school in Dallas, Texas. I just moved to Denver over the summer and can’t wait to teach 3rd grade this year. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Tech University where I double majored in Elementary Education and Special Education. I love reading, being outdoors, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. I am thrilled to be in Colorado and am so happy to be a part of Aurora Academy’s team. Above all, I am excited to get to know you all.

Professional Experience:
I’ve worked in education in various roles for more than 20 years but ,have been teaching full-time since 2011. For the past 7 years I worked as the English Language Development Resource Teacher for a K-8 school in Denver Public Schools, supporting Multilingual Learners. Prior to that I taught Middle and High school Social Studies and English.I am currently licensed in Elementary and Secondary Education with endorsements in both English Language Arts and Social Studies with an additional endorsement in English Learner Professional Development.
Personal
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado and I am a proud 3rd generation Denver Public Schools alumni! I’m a second generation teacher, my mother taught in DPS for over 20 years.
Graduated from the University of Hawa’i at Manoa and lived in Hawai’i (Oahu and Kaua’i) for 11 years.Mother of 2 sons (16 and 2) and an adult step-daughter. I love to travel!
