School Accountability Committee (SAC)
SAC's mission is to advise the administration in the school improvement process. Are you interested in the whys and hows of your child’s educational curriculum? Would you like to brainstorm ways to help improve Aurora Academy Charter School’s mission to provide a well-rounded and rigorous curriculum to it’s K-8th grade students? Do you want to be involved, at the ground level, with assisting the administration and teachers with problem-solving and improving our school’s academic culture?
The purpose of the SAC is to inform and encourage parents and community members, and provide them opportunities to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. In particular, members of the committee review student testing data and assist with developing and recommending student performance goals and school improvement plans, propose additions or deletions to our school’s curriculum, assess and analyze survey results and assist the Principal and the Board with other tasks related to the committee’s objective.The SAC is chaired by the Principal, and its members consist of at least one teacher and four parents from our school community. SAC meetings are held quarterly and additionally when needed.
Growth Feasibility Committee (GFC)
GFC's mission, along with the Administration, is to assess and to advise the School Board of the short and long-term facility and equipment needs. Would you like to be involved in planning for our school’s short and long-term facility needs? Do you want to help with analyzing the needs of our school’s physical space? Do you have any background in facility improvement or structural assessment?
The purpose of the GFC is to oversee, assess and plan for the facility needs of our school, both short-term and future. This committee oversees the physical condition of our facility and works with the maintenance staff to provide regular assessments to the Board. Members of this committee solicit input from Aurora Academy Charter School’s teachers and staff about their individual needs for classroom or office space, play space and the school’s public appearance. They work with outside experts, as needed, to plan for future needs and submit their reports and recommendations to the Board. The GFC is chaired by one of the Directors and its members consist of at least two Directors, a member of the administration, and interested parents and faculty. They meet as-needed, usually once a month.
Resource Development Committee (RDC)
The AACS Resource Development Committee exists to foster a strong connection between the school and the community, ensuring the growth and enhancement of the school’s facilities, programs, and reputation. The vision is to nurture a vibrant school community that is deeply integrated with the broader community, supporting the school’s mission to provide a well-rounded education for all students.
The RDC is charged with a multifaceted purpose that includes:
- Cultivating relationships with local businesses, corporate sponsors, and potential donors within both the school and the greater community.
- Implementing innovative fundraising programs to enhance school facilities and expand educational and extracurricular offerings
- Developing donor marketing materials
- Creating targeted campaigns to engage local businesses
- Identifying grants, philanthropic funding, and government programs
- Managing donor recognition programs
- Investigating and pursuing new resource development projects
- Research funding trends
- Supporting social events that foster a vibrant school culture
- Promote active engagement with the broader community
