Physical Science
Be able to identify mixtures and how they can be separated
Know the parts of an atom and how they bond with other atoms
Identify the differences between a chemical and physical change
Balance a chemical equation using conservation of matter
Use the pH scale to identify acids and bases
Life Science
Know the difference between photosynthesis and cellular respiration and how they work together for the ecosystem
Know the major cells parts and their functions
Analyze how the human body is composed of atoms, molecules, cells, tissues, organs and organ systems that have specific interactions
Give examples of how there is evidence, such as the fossil record, of evolution over geologic time
Identify different traits of organisms that would be favorable making the organism likely to survive over those that don’t have the trait
Earth Science
Review plate tectonics and boundaries and how they have shaped the Earth over time
Know that major geologic changes have happened and changed the Earth through time, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc.
Identify the three rock types

Grade Science
Scientific Method
Be able to write a lab using the 6 steps of the scientific method
Physical Science
Review the difference between physical and chemical changes
Identify and apply Newton’s three laws of motion
Compare and contrast the relationship between force, mass, speed and acceleration
Demonstrate how there are many different forms of energy and they can change from one form to another, but energy is never destroyed
Recognize when an object has maximum potential/kinetic energy
Examine the many different types of waves, showing their common and unique characteristics
Life Science
Know and recognize the difference between biotic and abiotic environments
Recognize what happens to ecosystems when they are altered by humans, such as when we cut down forests or pollute water
Analyze how genetics are passed on from parent to offspring
Be able to correctly fill in a Punnett square to show the possible traits of an offspring
Identify a genotype and phenotype
Earth Science
Demonstrate how weather is an interaction of Earth’s atmosphere, land, and water that happens because of the energy from the sun
Be able to predict the weather forecast using charts, graphs, and models
Recognize that the position and motion of Earth, Moon, and Sun is the reason for the seasons, eclipses, tides, and moon phases
Identify moon phases
Know the order of the planets and how they orbit the sun
