Meet Your Teachers
Mrs. Corley:

Hi! My name is Miranda Corley (Formerly Fischer). I am so excited to be a part of the ELD team again this year. This is my 9th year at Aurora Academy. I taught 1st grade for 1 year, and 3rd grade for 3 years, and this will be my 5th year teaching ELD. Prior to coming to Aurora Academy, I taught technology in Littleton Public Schools. I completed my Master's degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education in May of 2021. I am a Colorado Native, and I live in Denver with my husband Ben and my cat Minerva. In my spare time, you may find me dancing (tap is my favorite), crocheting, reading, hanging out with friends and family, or cooking delicious food! During the summer, I am involved in Theater, and I love that I have been able to bring my love of Theater here to Aurora Academy! I am excited for another year of learning and growing together!

Mrs. DeLawyer:

Hello parents and families! This is my third year teaching ELD at Aurora Academy, but I have 7 years of elementary classroom teaching experience. I taught 1st and 2nd grade at Aurora Academy during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years. From 2017-2020, I lived in Spain where I worked as an English teacher. Not only did I come to love teaching English, but I enjoyed traveling to over 20 countries and three continents, while also learning some Spanish. In May, I graduated master’s degree in Culturally and Linguistically Education. In my free time I enjoy reading, camping, tending to my 50+ houseplants, and traveling with my husband. I am excited for the opportunity to get to know your students this year!

I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade at Aurora Academy again this year! This will be my sixth year teaching at Aurora Academy, and my eleventh  year teaching. I taught 4th grade, along with other subjects and grades, for ten years. I am thrilled to be moving to ELD!

I am a Denver native- I grew up about 5 miles away from Aurora Academy, and attended DPS for my public education. I still enjoy outdoor Colorado activities, and hike with my dog whenever I can.

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s in elementary education in 2012. I completed my master’s program in teaching diverse learners from the University of Northern Colorado last summer.

I taught 4th grade in combined classes before I moved to Aurora Academy. My first two years out of college, I taught in a village elementary school in Alaska. I taught a combined 4th and 5th grade class that was almost entirely Inupiaq children. In 2014, I returned to Colorado. I taught 4th -6th grade (along with a couple specials) in a small town in the southeastern corner of the state.
