Rental Assistance - City of Aurora

Unable to make rental payments because of financial hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic?

A couple look stressed while reviewing their billsIf you have been unable to pay rent due to financial hardship caused by COVID-19, you may be eligible for rental assistance. The city of Aurora can help cover rent as far back as April 2020. Help can include past due, current, and two additional months of rent up to a maximum of 15 months of assistance. 

What’s covered under Aurora's Emergency Rental Assistance Program?

  • Assistance with monthly rent payments, not to exceed established fair market rent by HUD
  • Payments are made directly to the landlord/property manager

What are the eligibility requirements? 

  • Household income is at or below 80% of Area Median Income (see income limits below); financial verification is required
  • The reason for requesting assistance is related to COVID-19 (for example, loss of income or employment due to COVID-19, or COVID-19 health-related expenses)
  • Applicant has a current lease in place within the city of Aurora
  • Applicants who received funding through earlier rounds of the Aurora Rental Assistance Program may be eligible for additional funds
  • Applicants must disclose any other local, state, and federal rental assistance received to avoid duplication of benefits
  • Eligibility for this program is not dependent upon citizenship status

  • $62,600 | 1 person 
  • $71,550 | 2 persons
  • $80,500 | 3 persons
  • $89,400 | 4 persons
  • $96,600 | 5 persons
  • $103,750 | 6 persons
  • $110,900 | 7 persons
  • $118,050 | 8 persons
