Biography

Amy Tracy – Principal

I earned my BA in
Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming in 2000. In the
past, I’ve taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades as well as middle school math.
All but two years of my teaching career have been in a charter school
setting. While working at a k-12 charter school in Westminster, I wrote
and published three history units and one science unit for the Colorado
Core Knowledge Foundation. In 2008, I earned my MA in Administration and
Supervision through the University of Phoenix.
I joined the Aurora Academy family in 2015 as an assistant principal and in 2018 transitioned into my current role as principal.

It's hard to believe I'm going on
my 3rd year serving the AACS community as the Assistant
Principal. It's been an amazing journey and I'm as excited as I was on
day one to continue the important work.
I'm currently in my final year as a
Doctorate student at CU Denver where I’m studying Executive Leadership and I
hope to use the knowledge I've gained to positively impact students and
families here at AACS. Prior to moving to this amazing state that we call
home, I lived in Portland, OR where I completed my master's degree in Teaching. My
journey in leadership began in DPS as a GT teacher, I then transitioned into an
admin internship role while I completed my Educational Leadership degree from
University of Colorado Denver
During my free time outside of my studies
you can find me at the gym playing basketball, or most of the time, helping out
my wife at home taking care of our two toddlers.
I feel humbled every day I get to come into the building and I can’t wait to
see the heights we can climb together.

I am grateful to begin my 7th year at Aurora Academy, as I thoroughly enjoy watching our students grow over the years. I have been very lucky to have been in several roles at this school over the years. I believe that all my experiences allow me to serve this school to the best of my ability.
I received my Bachelor's in Education from Kansas State University. During my time as a 2nd grade teacher, I went back to school to earn my Master's in Education from Walden University. I am in my 16th year in education this year, and I can't even believe how the time has flown. As I step up into the role of Director of Curriculum and Assessment, I find myself relying heavily on my past experiences in education as a 2nd grade teacher, a 4th grade teacher, reading interventionist, and instructional coach.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending my time with my husband and two boys. We are a very active family who enjoys taking advantage of all the beauty and activities Colorado has to offer. I may not be a native, but I sure am grateful to be here, as I am in my 16th year of being a Colorado resident.
